Our full-day Qeswachaka Inca Bridge is for those who want to explore a place that is not so crowded or off the beaten path of other tours. This tour will take you towards the southern valley of Cusco. The location of this bridge was part of a network that belongs to the Inca Trail. It is considered a modern relic, as the communities (about 1,000 residents approximately) that live near the bridge renew it annually every June with the techniques of their ancestors. The material from which the bridge is made is Puna straw (better known as ichu) and seeing this bridge is a cultural spectacle since each rope is handmade so come and enjoy this wonderful experience with META Peru.
The day begins early, with pickup from your hotel between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. We embark on a 1 hour and 50 minute drive south of Cusco, with a stop in Cusipata for an Andean breakfast.
Then we continue to the village of Quewe for approximately 3 hours to the start of the hike to the Queswachaca Bridge, located at about 3,700 meters above sea level.
Upon arriving at the Queswachaca Bridge, our guide will explain the history and traditions of the people of Quewe and how they continue one of the oldest customs: the annual renewal of one of the most important Inca bridges in the Andean Empire. She will also explain the technique they use for this renewal. Afterward, we will prepare to cross the Queswachaca Bridge and experience one of the best moments on one of the few remaining Inca bridges.
After completing this beautiful experience at the Qeswachaca bridge, we will head back to the town of Cusipata where we will enjoy a buffet lunch prepared with local ingredients. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco, arriving around 4:30 PM, thus concluding this unforgettable experience.
