Itinerary

Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Soyroccocha

We begin this great day of adventure heading to the Classic Inca Trail. We will pick you up from your hotel Your pick up will be at 5:00 am, we will take you in our private transport to the town of Mollepata for 2 and a half hours where we will have our breakfast (not included) after finishing our breakfast we will continue to the town of Soraypampa for 1 hour and a half. On the way you will enjoy spectacular views of towns such as Iscuchaca and Limatambo, impressive valleys and snow-capped mountains such as Salkantay. Upon arrival in Soraypampa we will enjoy the incredible views of the glaciers of the Humantay (5,900m / 19,356ft) and Salkantay (6,217m / 20,396ft) mountains. We will walk for 2 and a half hours round trip to see the turquoise Humantay Lake and then we will gently ascend to our campsite in Soyroccocha where we will camp. We will enjoy our afternoon tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The views on this day are truly impressive, at night we will delight ourselves with a rich and varied dinner prepared by our chef and then take a hot shower to feel like new (you can have massage sessions). Then we will see the sky in its maximum splendor, we will see the Milky Way and the famous flame shape in the starry sky.

(Remember that when you arrive at each camp at night our team will have your hot shower ready so that you can receive your massage afterwards)

Soyroccocha – Salkantay Pass – Colpapampa

This second day will be challenging, as we will have a steep climb up to the highest peak, Abra de Warmi wañContinuing the second day, we will wake up very early in the morning to have our breakfast, our team will provide you with coca tea or muña in the morning so you can start with energy and a lot of spirit at the end of our delicious breakfast, we will continue walking off the traditional routes for approximately 2 hours uphill to reach the highest point of our hike, the Salkantay Pass (4630msnm / 15190ft) from here we will observe the wonderful view of the snow-capped mountains (Huayanay, Humantay and Salkantay) next to the lakes and rivers.

Then we will continue descending to the community of Wayracmachay for lunch. After lunch we will walk for a couple of hours to our last stop in the small town of Colpapampa where we will spend the night and have our delicious dinner prepared by our chef.

(Remember that when you arrive at each campsite at night our team will have your hot shower ready so that you can receive your massage afterwards)

Pacaymayo – Runcu Raccay Pass – Sayacmaraca Ruins – Phuyupatamarca-Wiñay Wayna

After breakfast, we will continue our hike along the opposite side of the valley, heading towards the second pass of the trek. Along the way, we will have fantastic views of waterfalls, as well as flora and We will start the day with our delicious breakfast and then walk to our next destination, the town of Lucmabamaba (approximately 4 hours walk). During this time, you will see a variety of wonders, including birds, fruit plantations with their flowering orchards, cocoa and coffee. Finally, we will arrive at our lunch destination with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful view.

At 3:00 pm we will board local transport for a half-hour walk to Cocalmayo (optional), where you can bathe in the natural hot springs.

Lucmabamba – Inca Ruins of Llaqtapata – Aguas Calientes

We will have our breakfast in the morning and then walk for 3 hours along the original Inca Trail and through the cloud forest to the Puncuyoc Pass, then we will walk to the Inca remains of Llactapata, an Inca site (2,700 m / 8,907 ft), which is located right in front of the Citadel of Machu Picchu.

Once there, we will enjoy a unique perspective of Machu Picchu from afar. Then, we will walk downhill for 2 hours to the hydroelectric plant where we will have lunch and say goodbye to our wonderful team (chef, chef assistant, waiter among others). Then we will continue walking to the town of Aguas Calientes crossing the National Sanctuary of Machu Picchu by the railway enjoying the surroundings of this Wonder of the Modern World until we reach your hotel  in Aguas Calientes.

  • Distance: 9 miles / 14.5 km (approximately 9 hours).

We will have breakfast at our hotel and then take the first bus to Machu Picchu. It will take you 30 minutes to reach the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, one of the Wonders of the Modern World and a World Heritage Site, an experience you will never forget. Your guide will take you through the amazing vestiges of the citadel along its main streets. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the squares surrounding the city and do some of the following activities on your own:

  1. Climb Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain to appreciate the beauty and magnificence of Machu Picchu from there. (Additional cost)
  2. Hike to the Sun Gate or Inti Punku (Additional cost)
  3. Visit the new local museum or the hot springs of Aguas Calientes later in the day. (additional cost)

After our guided tour we will take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch on your own and at 2:55, 3:20 or 4:22 pm, we will take our Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo, and then return to the city of Cusco in our private transportation.

If you wish, we can pick you up from the airport to give you a warm welcome to the city of Cusco and transfer you to your hotel, so you must inform us of your flight details at least 14 days before your trip. On the day of your arrival, please look for our representative who will be holding a sign with the META Peru logo at the airport (coordinate when making your reservation).

The information talk will take place the night before the trek at 6:00 pm at our office or at your hotel.

Please note that we cannot purchase your Machu Picchu tickets without the following information:

Remember: that during the period of 2025 the tickets to the Inca citadel (MACHUPICCHU) are in high demand so we recommend you make the reservation in advance to guarantee an unforgettable quality experience.

SECOND, we require a deposit of $250.00 USD per person, in order to purchase the entrance tickets to the archaeological park of MACHUPICCHU. We would appreciate it if you pay in cash at our office (we accept US dollars or Peruvian soles) during your briefing 2 or 4 days before your trip. We have many ATMs in downtown Cusco. You can also pay with VISA or PAYPAL online, but you will have to pay a 5.5% service charge, charged by VISA and PAYPAL. To pay your balance via PAYPAL, you must log in to your PAYPAL account using our email address of  metaperutravel@gmail.com.

We recommend you pay in cash at our offices to avoid this charge.

At META PERU your care and experience is the most important thing.

¡Yes! You must bring your original passport and it is very important that it has the same passport number that you sent us to book your permit for the Machu Picchu Tour or package. Your passport will be checked when you enter Machu Picchu and when you board the train. In case you are renewing your passport, please send us a copy of your old passport to secure your permission and be able to change it when you get your new passport. If so, please send us a copy of your new passport as soon as possible.

DISCOUNTS

  • 18-25 years old: 30 USD. Information required on the student card: university name, student name, student photo, expiration date, etc. A copy of the card is required at the reservation and government approval for the discount.
  • Children under 18 years old: 30 USD. Please send us a copy of your passport at the time of booking.
  • Children under 11 years old: 40 USD. Please send us a copy of your passport at the time of booking.

In the event that you are unable to finish the trek due to health reasons, our team will take you to the nearest town for assistance with transportation. We always carry oxygen on our treks for any respiratory issues. In extreme cases, we can arrange for a helicopter at your expense. (Travel insurance required, recommended). There are no refunds in the unlikely situation that you are unable to finish the trek.

Generally, those who need help getting off the trail are taken to Ollantaytambo and if they recover quickly they continue the journey to Aguas Calientes (cost incurred by the trekker) and visit Machu Picchu according to the original plan.

Unfortunately, the answer is No. Once the permits have been purchased, the Peruvian government does not allow any changes, so we cannot change any dates after the permit has been purchased. The permits are also non-transferable and non-refundable. If you cancel your Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 4 days, the deposit is not refundable at all.

Of course! Round-trip transfer to your hotel is included in all our packages! If you have booked your hotel in the Sacred Valley, we will drop you off there and vice versa.

If you are satisfied with the services provided, a tip is appreciated by our staff, although it is not mandatory. While it may not be a custom, it is of great importance to the people who will take care of you during the trek. It inspires excellent service and is an ingrained feature of the tourism industry in many META Peru destinations. Of course, you are free to tip as much as you like, depending on your perception of the quality and length of your trip. Remember, tipping is not mandatory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.
