Once you have enjoyed a fine breakfast in your hotel we will commence a guided yet personal tour of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. Each street has centuries of history as they are an amalgamation of indigenous history and colonial influence. The mood is very lively and strongly religious. You will be shown all sites of interest by your professional guide as he narrates to you all day long.

Our itinerary will be to visit Qoricancha which is the mythical Temple of the Sun. The perfection of its cut stone walls manufactured of Inca material is sharply contrasting the colonial convent constructed over it. We will now go to the Cusco cathedral which is an ideal architectural masterpiece that maintains the splendid Cusco school of art. The interior is covered with gold leaf and detailed carving of wood.

Later on we go to the great fortress at Sacsayhuman. Soaring defense walls of massive limestone blocks (some over 100 tons), command the view of the city. We are also going to visit Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay, ceremonial and military locations that tell about the genius of the Inca construction. After that, you’ll visit your hotel and relax or have an optional gourmet dine out.

After breakfast, we will depart toward the breathtaking Sacred Valley, one of Peru's most scenic and culturally rich regions. Temperatures become significantly warmer and the atmosphere becomes even more relaxed as one descends to 2800 meters. We’ll visit the Taray viewpoint on our way so as to enjoy panoramic views of the agricultural terraces and winding Urubamba River. The valley is extensive and snow-capped.

We proceed with our tour in Pisac, which boasts of an impressive archeological location as well as a bright artisan market. Ruins on top of the hills feature ritual temples, farm terraces and panoramic valley scenes. Then, you will have an opportunity to shop hand-crafted textiles, jewelry, and ceramics of local craftsmen. The cultural relationship is realistic and intimate.

Then we head on to Urubamba where we have a fine buffet lunch with a view of Andes landscapes. Local products emphasize the traditional taste through the introduction of fresh local ingredients but with sophisticated presentation. We will get there in the afternoon to Ollantaytambo, which is one of the most maintained Inca towns in Peru. Its enormous terraces of stone and its ancient paved streets give us an idea of the life of the past.

After breakfast, we will set out to explore two of the most photogenic sites in the Sacred Valley region. Even the trip takes us across picturesque Andean villages and open farmland. The horizon of the drive is enclosed by snow-capped mountains. The landscape is enough to ensure that the outing is memorable.

We begin with an awesome round agricultural complex of Moray. These terraces flow outward to the earth creating what numerous individuals think was an Inca farming laboratory. The different levels bring about different microclimates and thus it is possible to experiment with various crops. Its design shows a high level of knowledge in science during that period.

Then proceed to the Maras Salt Mines, a network of beautiful salt pools that fall off the side of the mountains in excess of 3,000. Since pre-Inca times, local families have been harvesting salt. The white terraces are quite bright in contrast with the earth colors. You will get to know about the traditional extraction methods, which are in use today.

During the afternoon, you can have time to rest in your hotel or use their spa options before watching the Andean sunset.

Overnight in the Sacred Valley.

The morning upon rising after breakfast we´ll take you to the train station where the most expected item of your trip will be commenced. The luxury panoramic train travels through the Sacred Valley, following the Urubamba River as the landscape gradually transforms into lush cloud forest. Massive windows give continuous representations of dramatic cliffs, green valleys, and pinacolon mountains.

In Aguas Calientes we take a shuttle bus which transports us up a winding mountain road to Machu Picchu. The familiar citadel seems to be between a row of immense green mountains coming out of nowhere with mist floating around them. The initial panoramic is so memorable and heart-wrenching. This is the kind of setting that is difficult to find in the world.

In your guided tour, you will visit temples, agrarian terraces, ceremony plazas and complex waterways. Your escort will elaborate on the astronomical processes of the location, religious significance and complex engineering patterns. The accuracy and deliberateness are observed in each stone. The peaks along the area induce a melodramatic and divine mood.

When we finish lunch we get down to Aguas Calentes to eat lunch in whichever restaurant we want. We will take the train in the future to Ollantaytambo where our party will be waiting to carry you by your own transport to Cusco. The last view of beauty of the valley is provided to the visitor on the way back. It is free to have a rest after a really outstanding day in the evening.

Overnight in Cusco.

At the very beginning of day 6, Cusco is totally under your pace. These interruptions allow introspection following a number of guided field trips. The city entices idleness and improvisation. It paves way to its blend of cultures and I find it best without a schedule.

You can walk in the artistic San Blas district that has narrow streets and artisan workshops. San Pedro Market is the center of colorful locality and new Andean products. Plaza de Armas is a good place to sit at a cafe. Each street is instagrammable.

There are also spa treatments that use Andean botanicals that are offered to those who want to relax. In addition to that, we will be able to organize some optional activities, like horseback riding to the Temple of the Moon. There are also cooking classes, chocolate making classes or individual tours of photography. Every activity will bring a particular twist to your experience.

Cusco cuisine is also impressive in the evening. Depending on the native and advanced procedures, gourmet restaurants incorporate indigenous ingredients. Dining silently on lighted rooftops has an impression of the ideal day ending. The air is classy and cozy.

At a very early hour we will leave Cusco heading towards the Andes to the south of the city. The picturesque highway goes through the distant villages, alpacas and wide mountainous scenery. A large Andean breakfast will be waiting for you at Cusipata before the hike to give you some stamina. Coca tea assists in altitude sickness.

We walk slowly progressing at an average of 4,600 meters and gradually ascend to Rainbow Mountain. Depending on pace and acclimatization the walk will require a 1.5 to 2 hour walk. The valley is engulfed by snow-covered mountains. The quiet of the high Andes has a force that is humiliating.

Vinicunca will reveal incredible multicolored rock formations at 5,020 meters above sea level. The color of the mountainside is painted in red, turquoise, yellow, and ochre colors. You will be left with time to have some rest, take photos and drink the stunned scenery in. The panoramic perspectives are interminable.

Following a descent, we will go back to the Cusipata where a buffet lunch would be wheeled using local products. The trip back to Cusco gives time to recount the experience. It is hard work but the payoff is incontrovertible. Late afternoon comes time to rest.

This morning we shall collect you to get an immersive experience of culinary. It starts with a guided tour of a local market where there are colorful stalls with Andean potatoes and chili peppers and quinoa as well as exotic fruits. Vendors tell what and why each ingredient is made and what it signifies in the culture. Colors and smells are alluring.

On the other hand, a professional chef teaches traditional Peruvian methods back at the workshop in culinary. You will make such traditional dishes as ceviche, causa limena, or lomo saltado. The step by step instructions add up to a fun and interactive experience. The environment is friendly and interactive.

Besides, you will get to know how you can make the popular pisco sour using traditional recipes. Citrus, pisco and the foam blend to form the Peru cocktail. The preparation is accompanied by narratives on the history of culinary. It is a combination of learning and fun.

Lastly you get to taste the things that you had cooked in a cozy environment. The laughter and talk are filling the room automatically. When the lesson is over we drive you back to your hotel. Afternoons are free the rest of the day.

In the morning we set out towards the great Humantay Lake. The inspiration goes through Andean towns and dramatic mountain sceneries. Preparation of the hike in Mollepata is done by eating a traditional breakfast. The landscape is more magnificent as we head to Soraypampa.

We’ll start the expedition at Soraypampa with an altitude of 3.900 meters. The increase will require about 1.5 to 2 hours. In the process, Salkantay Mountain views control the sky. The air feels crisp and pure.

Upon reaching 4,200 meters, one can see the turquoise waters of Humantay Lake under snow-covered mountains. The juxtaposition between the glacier and lagoon makes it have a beautiful visual effect.

After descending, we will have a good lunch at Mollepata. The drive back to Cusco will be super comfortable and scenic. This is the last hiking trip to the Andean area. The evenings are free to unwind.
