The excitement of your journey from Lares to Machu Picchu! We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 am The first part of our journey is about 2 hours to the community of Cuncani. Once there, we will have a breakfast with beautiful views. Then we will begin our 3-hour climb to the Hullkiccasa Pass (4,200 m / 13,779 ft). You will enjoy the stunning views of the rugged Andean peaks, lakes, valleys and much more. Afterwards, we will enjoy our gourmet lunch prepared by our trekking chef. Finally we will descend for 2 hours to our campsite in Kiswarani, on this descent we will appreciate beautiful views of the place.
We will enjoy tea time with stunning views of the frozen Andean peaks and seven waterfalls. We will also have the opportunity to interact with the locals and learn much more about the culture. After dinner, our guide will show you the constellations that the Incas relied on for their agricultural guidance and still do to this day. Then in the evening we will have our dinner prepared by our chef and thus end our first day of adventure.
We will wake up to begin our second day feeling refreshed after a good sleep and another delicious breakfast. We will begin our 4-hour hike southwest, an intense and steep hike to the highest point of our trek called Paso Pachacutec (4,700 m / 15,420 ft). We will embrace the feeling of total euphoria and self-realization upon reaching the top. The views from the summit are spectacular of glaciers, alpine lakes, herds of llamas, rugged valleys, and rolling farmlands. After some time to enjoy the 360º views, we descend for 30 minutes, where we will have a rich lunch in the Andes.
After resting a bit, we descend for 2 hours until we reach our campsite located next to the community of Cancha Cancha, (3,700 m / 12,139 ft). We will take isolated trails, walking among llamas and herds of alpacas. The local people will greet us shyly and interact with us in the Quechua language (the Inca language). Your guide will act as your interpreter to translate and teach you a few words in Quechua. Cancha Cancha is one of the most isolated and traditional mountain communities. You will have the opportunity to meet with a local family to learn about their Andean lives. Depending on the time you arrive at Cancha Cancha, you may also have the opportunity to visit the school.
At camp, everything will be ready. You will enjoy tea time and dinner, then curl up for a comfortable night’s sleep in your tent.
Today will be a memorable day. We start with our delicious breakfast in the morning and then begin our journey with a 3-hour walk downhill until we reach the community of Huaran, which is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Here we will say goodbye to our team of muleteers, and then take our van to Las Salinas de Maras, where we will enjoy and witness how people produce salt through evaporation, our guide will be there to explain all the details. Then we continue our journey to Moray, which was an Inca laboratory, we will have time to explore this beautiful place and finally we will head towards Ollantaytambo where we will have a delicious lunch. After lunch, you will have time to walk around the town of Ollantaytambo and at 7:00 pm, we will take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a hotel (not included).

This day will be the most exciting of our trip as we will visit the most important archaeological site in South America. First, we will start this great day with a delicious breakfast. At 5:00 am we will take the first bus to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. The first bus leaves at 5:30 am. The trip lasts 25 minutes. Our first objective is to be the first to enjoy the great sunrise at Machu Picchu (weather permitting), to feel the energies and magic that the Inca citadel holds. Next, we will take a tour of the most important areas of this sanctuary, viewpoints, temples, residences, stairways, patios, sacred temples, etc. all the archaeological sites where our expert guide will delight you with his explanations, history, meanings and theories for a period of 2 hours. After the tour, you will have free time to take pictures. Optionally, you can enjoy any of the following activities on your own (not included in the tour price)
After our guided tour we will take the bus to return to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch on your own and at 2:55, 3:20 or 4:22 pm, we will take our Expedition train back to Ollantaytambo, and then return to the city of Cusco in our private transportation which will take you to your hotel.

Inside your backpack
As a Direct Tour Operator, we provide you with a duffel bag at your briefing and we WILL include an additional porter, who will carry up to 7 kgs / 14 lbs, including your 2.5kg sleeping bag, mat and extra clothing.
We highly recommend having a small 30-40L trekking backpack for the day. in which you can carry the following things
Water: Please bring your own water on the first day until the first camp for lunch, then we will provide cold boiled water at each meal. Please bring your water bottle.

If you wish, we can pick you up from the airport to give you a warm welcome to the city of Cusco and transfer you to your hotel, so you must inform us of your flight details at least 14 days before your trip. On the day of your arrival, please look for our representative who will be holding a sign with the META Peru logo at the airport (coordinate when making your reservation).
The information talk will take place the night before the trek at 6:00 pm at our office or at your hotel.

We would appreciate it if you pay in cash at our office (we accept US dollars or Peruvian soles) during your briefing 2 or 4 days before your trip. We have many ATMs in downtown Cusco. You can also pay with VISA or PAYPAL online, but you will have to pay a 5.5% service charge, charged by VISA and PAYPAL. To pay your balance via PAYPAL, you must log in to your PAYPAL account using our email address of metaperutravel@gmail.com.

¡Yes! You must bring your original passport and it is very important that it has the same passport number that you sent us to book your permit for the Machu Picchu Tour or package. Your passport will be checked when you enter Machu Picchu and when you board the train. In case you are renewing your passport, please send us a copy of your old passport to secure your permission and be able to change it when you get your new passport. If so, please send us a copy of your new passport as soon as possible.
DISCOUNTS
In the event that you are unable to finish the trek due to health reasons, our team will take you to the nearest town for assistance with transportation. We always carry oxygen on our treks for any respiratory issues. In extreme cases, we can arrange for a helicopter at your expense. (Travel insurance required, recommended). There are no refunds in the unlikely situation that you are unable to finish the trek.
Generally, those who need help getting off the trail are taken to Ollantaytambo and if they recover quickly they continue the journey to Aguas Calientes (cost incurred by the trekker) and visit Machu Picchu according to the original plan.
Unfortunately, the answer is No. Once the permits have been purchased, the Peruvian government does not allow any changes, so we cannot change any dates after the permit has been purchased. The permits are also non-transferable and non-refundable. If you cancel your Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 4 days, the deposit is not refundable at all.
Of course! Round-trip transfer to your hotel is included in all our packages! If you have booked your hotel in the Sacred Valley, we will drop you off there and vice versa.
If you are satisfied with the services provided, a tip is appreciated by our staff, although it is not mandatory. While it may not be a custom, it is of great importance to the people who will take care of you during the trek. It inspires excellent service and is an ingrained feature of the tourism industry in many META Peru destinations. Of course, you are free to tip as much as you like, depending on your perception of the quality and length of your trip. Remember, tipping is not mandatory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.
