Itinerary Machu Picchu 1 day by Hiram Bingham Train

Day 1Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - Cusco

We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:50 a.m. and then transfer you to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the Hiram Bingham train that leaves at 10:53 a.m. bound for Aguas Calientes. On board this luxury train, you will have personalized service, 3-course meals with local products, an observatory lounge with live music, and a balcony to enjoy the beautiful views of the Andes and the Urubamba River.

You will be arriving in Aguas Calientes at 12:24 p.m. where your private guide will be waiting to show you the beautiful town and drive for 30 minutes by bus to the Machu Picchu Citadel. Upon arrival and getting off the bus, you will have a private guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel.

The guided tour in the citadel lasts about 3 hours. Your guide will take you to the most spectacular places of the fortress, temples, squares and palaces and will explain the history and mysteries of the lost city of the Incas. After the visit time you will take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes and then take the luxury train back to Ollantaytambo which leaves at 5:50 p.m. On the way back on the train we will have cocktails, wines, entertainment and a special dinner with drinks. Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo station at approximately 7:25 p.m. our private transport will be waiting for you to return to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

HIRAM BINGHAM LUXURY TRAIN

The Belmond Hiram Bingham train service offers classic luxury, where guests are served by attentive and dedicated staff. It includes top-notch cuisine, either with a gourmet brunch on your way to Machu Picchu, or with dinner on the return. This train service carries a total of up to 84 passengers with four cars: two for dining, one bar and one for catering.

On the way to Machu Picchu, the outbound journey includes brunch as the train passes through lush Andean landscapes and villages. Following parallel to the Urubamba River, mountain views fill the windows until you reach Aguas Calientes, the town at the foot of Machu Picchu. From here you ascend by bus to the world-famous ruins. On the return journey, you will depart Aguas Calientes in the early afternoon. Dinner is served on board with live music and an open bar to entertain.

He knows so much about Inca history, Peruvian culture, the mountains, and local life, and we loved how naturally all of that came up in our conversations along the way. He was also very patient and always paid attention to how we were doing during the trek. On Salkantay, he even suggested adjusting our itinerary based on the weather conditions so we could have the best possible experience, which we really appreciated. He never rushed us, was happy to stop whenever we needed, and was just very easy and fun to be around.      Verificada Short Inca Trail review Cristian guided our family through the short version of the Inca Trail. The views were amazing and the hike made the whole experience even more unforgettable.
