Discover Puno, known as the “City of the Sacred Lake”, is the tourist epicenter of the region because it is home to the famous Lake Titicaca, considered the Pacarina (mythical place of origin) according to legend, where Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo emerged. Among its attractions are the Plaza de Armas and the Temple of San Juan, also called the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Candelaria, recognized as a Cultural Heritage of the Nation. Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3,825 meters above sea level, has numerous islands on the Peruvian side, such as Amantaní, Taquile, Tikonata, Suasi, Soto, Anapia and the floating islands of the Uros.

In the afternoon, we will pick you up from your hotel at 02:00 p.m. to explore the most emblematic places and their surroundings, starting with the Huajsapata hill with panoramic views of the city, the bay of Puno and the Capachia and Chucuito peninsulas.
On the tour we will discover the history and ancient legends of the lake, visiting the following places:
We will also visit other points that show the history of the Altiplano and Lake Titicaca. The tour will end at 4:30 p.m. You will have the rest of the night free.
Today we will explore Lake Titicaca and its islands. We will start with a pick up from your hotel at 07:50 a.m. to head to the port and take a boat to the floating islands of the Uros. We will arrive at 09:15 a.m. where we will have a guided tour of these islands, known for their peculiar lifestyle using totora (aquatic plant) in their houses, rafts and crafts.
At 11:00 a.m. we will continue our tour heading to the island of Amantaní (4150 m), we will arrive around 01:30 p.m. there we will enjoy a typical lunch and have time to rest and explore the island. At 03:00 p.m. we will start a walk to Pachatata to watch the sunset. Back at 06:00 p.m. you will share dinner and participate in folkloric dances with local families, wearing typical costumes of the town.
In the morning, at 07:00 a.m. we will have breakfast with the families of Amantani and then head to Taquile Island (4050 m). We will arrive at 10:30 a.m. in Taquile where we will begin a walk to explore the place, discovering a traditional lifestyle where property is private, but work is collective, with around 300 inhabitants alternating days of individual and community work. Taquile follows the Inca principles of “do not steal, do not lie and do not be idle”, maintaining these customs for centuries.
On our visit we will enjoy stunning views of the high plateau, then we will have a typical lunch at midday. Finally we will head towards our boat that will take us back to Puno. We will arrive at the port of Puno at approximately 03:00 p.m. and we will drop you off in the city center.
We will pick you up from your hotel at 02:00 p.m. to visit the Archaeological Site of Sillustani (3840 m), located on the peninsula surrounded by the Umayo lagoon.
Sillustani was a cemetery that was built in the 12th century by the Qolla civilization. Here we can enjoy the magnificent landscape of the mountains and the beautiful Umayo lagoon that surrounds the pre-Incan architectural work.
Finishing this tour, we will return to Puino and leave you in the city center, so you can visit the places you are missing in the city and rest for tomorrow’s return to Cusco or Lima.

We would appreciate it if you pay in cash at our office (we accept US dollars or Peruvian soles) during your briefing 2 or 4 days before your trip. We have many ATMs in downtown Cusco. You can also pay with VISA or PAYPAL online, but you will have to pay a 5.5% service charge, charged by VISA and PAYPAL. ¡Yes! You must bring your original passport and it is very important that it has the same passport number that you sent us to book your permit for the Machu Picchu Tour or package. Your passport will be checked when you enter Machu Picchu and when you board the train. In case you are renewing your passport, please send us a copy of your old passport to secure your permission and be able to change it when you get your new passport. If so, please send us a copy of your new passport as soon as possible.

In the event that you are unable to finish the trek due to health reasons, our team will take you to the nearest town for assistance with transportation. We always carry oxygen on our treks for any respiratory issues. In extreme cases, we can arrange for a helicopter at your expense. (Travel insurance required, recommended). There are no refunds in the unlikely situation that you are unable to finish the trek.
Generally, those who need help getting off the trail are taken to Ollantaytambo and if they recover quickly they continue the journey to Aguas Calientes (cost incurred by the trekker) and visit Machu Picchu according to the original plan.
Unfortunately, the answer is No. Once the permits have been purchased, the Peruvian government does not allow any changes, so we cannot change any dates after the permit has been purchased. The permits are also non-transferable and non-refundable. If you cancel your Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 4 days, the deposit is not refundable at all.
Of course! Round-trip transfer to your hotel is included in all our packages! If you have booked your hotel in the Sacred Valley, we will drop you off there and vice versa.
