You will take advantage of the guided tour of the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo of great importance whose fortress guards and protects the entrance to the Sacred Valley. From this point all visitors will be able to admire the wonderful views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas during their train ride to Aguas Calientes. Our day will begin by picking you up from your hotel very early in the morning to take you in our tourist unit to Choquequilla, a small ceremonial site where the Incas worshipped the moon. Then we head to Raf’qa, the starting point of our trek, where we meet our team members (porters and horses). After meeting them we will begin our 1-hour walk to the small community of Soqma. There we will be able to admire the Peroyniyoc glacial waterfall and take some photos. Then we will continue our adventure, walking all morning and arriving at Q’orimarca (3700 masl) for lunch prepared by our META PERU chef. After a short break, we visit the archaeological site of Q’orimarca, this place served as a checkpoint in Inca times. Finally we rest in the tranquility of the camp while enjoying a snack. We will spend the night here after a very comforting dinner we will have the opportunity to see the starry sky that the Urubamba valley offers.
Today is the most difficult day of the hike, but the most rewarding for the beauty of its landscapes. We will wake up at 5.00 am to have breakfast and be full of energy. After breakfast we will have a climb of approximately 3 hours until we reach the first pass of Puccaqasa (4370msnm/14337ft). There we will enjoy the wonderful view over the valley and then we will descend for half an hour to our lunch place. After lunch, full of energy, we will climb again towards the second pass of Kuychiqasa (4450msnm/14600ft). Once again we will be dazzled by a beautiful panoramic view over the Andes. Then we will walk downhill for approximately 2 hours to reach Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where we will have a stunning view of the valley and the white glacier called La Veronika visible on the horizon. We have a few minutes of walking to reach the camp in Choquetacarpo (3600msnm/11811ft) where lunch and our second day of camping await us.
This part of the hike is all downhill! We will get up at 6:00 am to walk for a couple of hours until we reach the famous Cachiqata quarry. Here we will observe the half-finished works due to the process of the Conquest. We will see around 40 rocks in different states of carving. It is said that the great Inca architects had created a series of ramps several kilometers long to drag the blocks to Ollantaytambo, the place chosen to build the great Inca wonder, an archaeological construction of great significance. At the end of our guide’s explanation we will resume our walk until we reach the town of Cachiqata where our lunch is scheduled. Then we will go down to the living Inca village of Ollantaytambo where we will visit the archaeological group. After the tour we have the train that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night at your hotel (not included) and then have our reward for such hard work.
We will have our breakfast in the morning and then walk for 3 hours along the original Inca Trail and through the cloud forest to the Puncuyoc Pass, then we will walk to the Inca remains of Llactapata, an Inca The big day to see the new wonder of the world has arrived. We wake up very early in the morning (before sunrise) and take the bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu so you can appreciate this famous city with the sunrise and before the crowds arrive. Then you will have a 2-hour tour to Machu Picchu with your guide and then you can explore more of the archaeology. After the tour, you will have free time to take pictures. Optionally you can enjoy any of the following activities on your own (not included in the tour price)
After our guided tour we will take the bus to return to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch on your own and at 2:55, 3:20 or 4:22 pm, we will take our Expedition train back to Ollantaytambo, and then return to the city of Cusco in our private transportation which will take you to your hotel.

Inside your backpack
As a Direct Tour Operator, we provide you with a duffel bag at your briefing and we WILL include an additional porter, who will carry up to 7 kgs / 14 lbs, including your 2.5kg sleeping bag, mat and extra clothing.
We highly recommend having a small 30-40L trekking backpack for the day. in which you can carry the following things
Water: Please bring your own water on the first day until the first camp for lunch, then we will provide cold boiled water at each meal. Please bring your water bottle.

If you wish, we can pick you up from the airport to give you a warm welcome to the city of Cusco and transfer you to your hotel, so you must inform us of your flight details at least 14 days before your trip. The information talk will take place the night before the trek at 6:00 pm at our office or at your hotel.

We would appreciate it if you pay in cash at our office (we accept US dollars or Peruvian soles) during your briefing 2 or 4 days before your trip. We have many ATMs in downtown Cusco. You can also pay with VISA or PAYPAL online, but you will have to pay a 5.5% service charge, charged by VISA and PAYPAL. To pay your balance via PAYPAL, you must log in to your PAYPAL account using our email address of metaperutravel@gmail.com.

¡Yes! You must bring your original passport and it is very important that it has the same passport number that you sent us to book your permit for the Machu Picchu Tour or package. Your passport will be checked when you enter Machu Picchu and when you board the train. In case you are renewing your passport, please send us a copy of your old passport to secure your permission and be able to change it when you get your new passport. If so, please send us a copy of your new passport as soon as possible.
DISCOUNTS
In the event that you are unable to finish the trek due to health reasons, our team will take you to the nearest town for assistance with transportation. We always carry oxygen on our treks for any respiratory issues. In extreme cases, we can arrange for a helicopter at your expense. (Travel insurance required, recommended). There are no refunds in the unlikely situation that you are unable to finish the trek.
Generally, those who need help getting off the trail are taken to Ollantaytambo and if they recover quickly they continue the journey to Aguas Calientes (cost incurred by the trekker) and visit Machu Picchu according to the original plan.
Unfortunately, the answer is No. Once the permits have been purchased, the Peruvian government does not allow any changes, so we cannot change any dates after the permit has been purchased. The permits are also non-transferable and non-refundable. If you cancel your Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 4 days, the deposit is not refundable at all.
Of course! Round-trip transfer to your hotel is included in all our packages! If you have booked your hotel in the Sacred Valley, we will drop you off there and vice versa.
If you are satisfied with the services provided, a tip is appreciated by our staff, although it is not mandatory. While it may not be a custom, it is of great importance to the people who will take care of you during the trek. It inspires excellent service and is an ingrained feature of the tourism industry in many META Peru destinations. Of course, you are free to tip as much as you like, depending on your perception of the quality and length of your trip. Remember, tipping is not mandatory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.
